This is a well carved wood okimono of a monkey, Japanese early 20th century.
The monkey is naturalistically carved in stained boxwood sitting while turning to its right as it eats a persimmon fruit which it holds in both hands. Glass eyes are inset into the face.

Condition: Very good antique condition with no chips or repairs. There is a small shrinkage split on the monkey's neck (left side).
