Mike Gartner, who was the 4th overall selection in the 1979 NHL Entry draft, spent the first 10 years of his career with the Washington Capitals and is considered the greatest Capital to ever wear the team colors. During his 19-year NHL career, Mike racked up incredible numbers while representing the Caps, North Stars, Rangers, Leafs and Coyotes. His Hall of Fame numbers are simply staggering with in excess of 700 career goals and 1300 career points to his credit. He is one of a handful of players ever to eclipse 700 career goals, standing among the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito and Brett Hull. Mike was consistently good over a very long period of time, which is rather uncommon in the modern era of this grueling sport. He amassed 15 different 30-goal seasons with 8 of them being 40 or better including one 50-goal campaign. He proudly represented his team in 7 different NHL All Star contests. Mike also represented Team Canada in the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cups, two classic series. He was a true credit to the sport and is a most deserving member of Hockey’s Hall of  Fame.
