Self Watering Pot

This pot can be used of any house plant.

Self watering pots are wonderful.  They supply just enough water to the roots.  How they work is the outer pot is fully glazed both inside and out. The outer pot is filled with water.  The insert is only glazed (sealed) at the rim.  Plant your violet (or whatever) in the insert.  Put the insert into the pot.  The unglazed bisque lower part of the insert will absorb the water into the soil and keep your plant watered.  If your soil is dry when you first plant, add enough water to dampen the soil.  After that you just lift out the insert and add water to the pot.  Depending on were you live, you should only have to water about a week.

I have started to add Italian glazes to my pots.  The color is lovelier and deeper then you can see in the photos.

This is Large size pot. The pot is 6"x 3 3/4" and the insert is 4"x3 1/2".

These pots can be used for any small house plant.  Succulents do well in them as

well. I make these pots from scratch.  I cast, paint, slip trail, glaze and fire them myself. So if they are not "prefect" please understand.  I also make each of the little critters I attach.  Each pot can take up to hours.  I will only be listing about 4 to 6 times a year.  It takes me a while to get inventory to list.

I have been doing ceramics for over 60 years, many of them as a teacher. I hope you enjoy looking at my work.
