Here we offer a pair of exquisite old explosion-proof industrial fixtures with big 8"dia. clear glass globes that thread into a stout cast-aluminum housing. Priced individually. The big globes accommodate a larger-than-typical Edison-type bulb, so that's how we present them here, with a bulb measuring 7.5" long and 4.25" in diameter. You can, of course, use any type of bulb with a typical medium base -- today's market offers you many options. This 1950s-era light features an unpainted massive cast-aluminum cap that houses an equally heavy-duty mogul socket. We've outfitted that socket with a mogul-to-medium base adapter to accept typical household bulbs.
Like all of our vintage industrial fixtures, this is the "Real McCoy," an antique refurbished with great care (as described below in greater detail) to work safely and dependably for many decades to come. Its original globe-to-cast-housing gasket was replaced with a new, safe, cork/nitrile gasket that cushions the globe's threaded end and ensures the globe will always twist off easily for bulb changes. Three feet of new wiring was added to give you flexibility in how far it hangs from your ceiling. You can easily swap out its current 6" down pipe with a 1/2" iron pipe of any length available at any hardware store. The fixture also includes a vintage, Appleton swiveling-type flexible ceiling hanger for easy mounting to your ceiling junction box. The hanger ensures the fixture hangs plumb and gives it some "give" should it be accidentally bumped.
