Babette's Feast (1987) DVD

A Parisian Chef outcast shows up at a remote Danish Island and asks two elderly sisters for work. She ends up working for room and board but wins 10,000 francs in the French Lottery and decides to treat the island inhabitants to a feast. The invited General recognizes Babette's cooking skills as the head chef of the famous Café Anglais in Paris. Babette reveals that a dinner for 12 at the Café Anglais costs exactly 10,000 francs. Having spent her winnings from the lottery on her feast, Babette is once again confined to the remote island.
