This authentic man's African Kuba mask dates back to the 19th century, ca. 1870, and is a rare find for collectors of ethnographic art. The mask is all handmade and carved, with intricate details using natural materials such as wood, shells, painted wood beads, raffia, and jute. The Kuba tribe is known for their unique and beautiful masks, and this one is no exception. The colors used in this large mask are brown, beige, and black, creating a beautiful and striking contrast. This original work of art is perfect for collectors or those interested in African culture.

Whether it is added to a mask collection, or just hanging on a wall, this mask is a one of a kind and a specialty to own.

It measures approximately 15" in length, wood only, not including the long raffia which is approximately 11" in length at the bottom. The mask measures approximately 8" in width. Inside the jute for the head has some stains that appear to be water or sweat marks. The jute is slightly fraying on the inside of the head. No holes or rips. No missing or cracked beads. No missing or cracked cowrie shells. On the inside left hand side there is a short split in the wood. This is shown in the last enlarged picture.

****The post office has imposed a ridiculous surcharge on any box over 12" in any direction. To to the surcharge, size of box, and weight, shipping is expensive. ****
