Early Lou Murter Shieldback Hepplewhite Chair, Made for Chestnut Hill Studio
1:12 scale. Made in 1977. Signed (with his initials: ELM) and dated. . "Embroidered" seat in shades of pink and cream; hand-painted gold accents on the wood. This is one of Lou's earlier chairs, which was offered for sale by the iconic Chestnut Hill Studio (and possibly to their specifications). Very detailed, dimensional carving. Meticulous work.

I used to see Lou at miniatures shows, carving these delicate and intricate chairs with a pen knife. Amazing to watch. He spent a lot of time in museums studying historical furniture. He was passionate about accuracy.
