This is an original press photo. Foamy substance floats near discharge pipes at Elmwood Pumping Station - Jefferson Parish President Joseph S. Yenni said Wednesday he has ordered an investigation to find out why the water in Metairie's Elmwood Canal was so polluted last month that it killed at least 1,000 fish after being pumped into Lake Pontchartrain. Yenni said parish officials were unaware of the fish kill until they read about it in a newspaper Wednesday morning.Photo measures 10 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 10-14-1982.
