The germination rate of common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)is approximately 40%.  However, with theuse of a process called cold stratification (exposing the seeds to cold, moistconditions for 2 weeks), this improves to over 90%.

The Common Milkweed plants are great for naturalizing andproviding monarchs with meals in full sun conditions--especially as a backdropfor a bed, since the plants can reach a height of 6 feet.
