After actor Lon McCallister reported to Camp Crowder, Missouri for training, playwright Moss Hart wrote 'Winged Victory' and McCallister (along with many other actor/servicemen) was chosen to be in the 300-man show, directed by George Cukor. The memory book contains 75-100 salutes from fellow trainees, many of whom were actors or crew in the play; among them are Barry Nelson, Don Taylor and Sascha Brastoff (who stopped the show with his impression of Carmen Miranda) from his time at Army training at Camp Crowder. Laid in is an 8" wooden souvenir 'Key to Camp Crowder Mo. - To Our Welcome Guest' The key bears a 'From... To...' blue mailing tag with 'Greetings from...' on verso signed 'Frances Thurman Service Club #3'.
