This listing is for a Vintage 1920 LC Smith typewriter. It was manufactured by LC Smith & Corona Typewriters INC. This Typewriter was given to me by my Grandmother who received it from her best friend who's grandmother was the secretary to Clifford Walker the 64th governor of the state of Georgia from 1923-1927. Governor Walker is best known for his member ship in the KKK and the inclusion of KKK leader ship in policy matters during his leadership. This typewriter resided inside the Granite Governors Mansion which served as the 3rd Governors Mansion From 1924-1967 which was located in Ansley Park. I love the history associated with this typewriter. It was given to me by my grandmother to use as decor for my home office. My office is decorated in many vintage pieces from around the world and from different times in history. I decided it was time to part ways with it since we are in the process of a big move and to make way for some newer items.

The typewriter deff needs a little TLC and has some rust on it. Considering its age it is in great condition other than the rust on the keys. The slide will move to the right but I can't figure out how to get it to slide back to the left. It's funny I can take apart a computer and put it back together but I can't figure out one of the simplest pieces of old tech. It is sold as is and for it's historical value. It would make a great piece for any history buff or collector. It would also make a great restoration project. I find myself sitting at my desk and looking over at it imagining all the history that was typed up on this thing. Being that the Governor himself was a hate mongering racist you can only imagine all the policy's that were typed up that were not in favor and down right oppressive to the African American community at the time. I am so glad Ga has come so far. It always boggles my mind that so much hate could have existed and still exist just because of the color of someone's skin. Feel free to message me with any questions you may have.
