This German teddy bear is a very early Teddy Bear made by Josef Deuerlein in Nuremberg, Germany. The Deuerlein toy company was founded in 1854, and made many types of mechanical toys, including tumbler bears.  When you raise his arms, you can hear the mechanism move, but he does not tumble.  One of his arms comes completely off, and you can see the rod that it goes on.  The arm could be sewn back on.  Both legs also come off.  They hook on to a metal piece that runs through the bear's torso.  They could also be reattached.  Please see close-up photos.   He comes from the same collection as the other bears that I have listed.  She had her bears appraised by a teddy bear expert in the 1990s.  There was not a full evaluation done of this bear, but she did write on a tag "1910-Nuremberg Josef Deuerlein" Mohair - Tumbler. As Is $750.00" (see photo of tag).  On the back of the tag, it says see "page 47 of German Teddy Encyclopedia - Non-working Clockwork".

He measures approximately 9" tall/long. He is made of mohair fur, and his eyes are made from shoe buttons, which were used on the earliest bears. The nose is stitched of black yarn horizontally, with an upside-down Y mouth.  The stitching is in remarkable shape for the age.  None of the paws have stitching. His fur is thinning all over, and is made of mohair.  His vest is made of felt, and has tiny silver buttons. It reminds me of an English hunting vest
