Hertha Schäfer
Hertha Schäfer wurde 1941 in
Hähnlein Kreis Darmstadt geboren.
Heute lebt sie Kelsterbach in der
Nähe des Frankfurter Flughafens.
Sie erlernte einen kaufm. Beruf und
arbeitete zunächst als Autodidakt.
Im Jahre 1978 nahm sie Unterricht
bei Studiendirektor a. D. Otto Leven
im Zeichnen und in der freien Male-
rei. Sie besuchte div. Akademien im
In- und Ausland. Außerdem
besuchte sie Radierkurse an der
Europ. Sommerakademie in Trier.
Heute besitzt Hertha Schäfer eine
kleine Galerie-Werkstatt in Kelster-
bach.
1979 gewann sie einen 2. Preis bei
einem Wettbewerb ,,Kunst an
öffentlichen Bauten". Sie nahm an
div. Gruppen- und Einzelausstellun-
gen teil. Sie ist Dozentin an der
VHS-Kelsterbach.
Hertha Schäfer beschäftigte sich in
den letzten Jahren vorzugsweise
mit der Aquarellmalerei, wobei sie
die Naß in Naß Technik bevorzugt.
Ihre Motive sind realistisch und
auch gegenstandslos und überlas-
sen dem Betrachter die Freiheit des
individuellen Erlebens.
In unserer hektischen, technisierten
Welt laden ihre faszinierenden
Farbkompositionen durch ihre Har-
monie dazu ein, sich dem Spiel von
Ruhe und Spannung, weichem
Fließen und impulsiver Dynamik
hinzugeben.
Hertha Schäfer was born in Hähn-
lein near Darmstadt in 1941 and
now lives in Kelsterbach near
Frankfurt airport. She learned a
commercial profession and in the
beginning worked as an auto-
didact.
In 1978 she took lessons in paint-
ing with Otto Leven and also
studied free painting. She attended
several academies in Germany and
abroad. Moreover, she took etching
courses at the European Summer
Academy in Trier. Today Hertha
Schäfer has a small gallery with a
workshop in Kelsterbach.
In 1979 she won the second prize
in a competition "Art at Public
Buildings". She participated in
several group exhibitions and also
had some one-woman shows. She
teaches at the evening school of
Kelsterbach.
In the last several years Hertha
Schäfer mainly painted with water
colours, where she prefered the
"wet in wet technic". Her motives
are realistic and non-represen-
tational and allows the viewer
freedom for individual feelings.
In our hectic and highly technolo-
gized world her faszinating colour
compositions invite us due to their
harmony to abandon ourselves to
the game of silence and suspense,
smooth slow and impulsive
dynamics.
