Edition of 1759 of this famous work of pharmaceuticals by the french chemistry and physician Nicolas Lemery (1645-1715).
He got a degree in chemistry and worked as a pupil before in the pahrmacy of his auntthan in that of Cristopher Glaser pharmaceutical in the court of Luigi XIV and Bernardin Martin who permitted him to introduce int he intellectual circles of Paris. He opened his activity.
He was follower of the theories of Cartesio and Pierre Gassendi, leaving them of Paracelso and Jean Baptiste Van Helmont. He was a skilful orator and managed to capture the attention of different kind of people favoring the diffusion of his theories.
The work, published for the first time in 1698 a a following of his "Pharmacopee universelle" describes hundreds of vegetal species and their usage of pharmaceutical field.
