Beautiful edition of 1691 of this famosuw ork of military strategy by the ancient greek writer Polieno.
Greek text with italian tarnslation by Pancratius Maasvicl (1658-1729).
Notes in latin by Isaac Casaubon (1559-1614).
The work, dedicated to the two emperors Marco Aurelio and Lucio Verdescribes different military strategies of the most important greek and roman generals and governors and not, as also illustrious roman people.
As indicated in the first title page work given as a prize for the good rendering of the student "Johanni Van Herverden" in the school year 1730 (date corrected by hand).

Full parchment coeval cover with gilted title and decorations in the spine and plates in good general conditions lightly worn in the extremities.
