This unique and beautiful piece by renowned artist Phyllis Fullerton features a stunning portrait of Anacacho Shamrock, a beloved horse subject in a landscape. The artwork is created with a combination of graphite, some gouache and perhaps charcoal on artist's board. The drawing has been signed in the lower right by the artist herself. This medium-sized drawing is matted and framed with a mat window measuring 20 1/2 inches in length and 15 1/2 inches in height.  The total framed size is 25 3/4 inches and 22 3/4 inches. This one-of-a-kind horse portrait is from the post-war period of 1950-1959 and is titled "Anacacho Shamrock" on the back of the artist's board apparently in the artist's hand. The image of the horse has a strong resemblance to the photograph of Anacacho Shamrock published in 1956 in the February issue of Saddle & Bridle and may have been used as a model for the drawing.  The landscape is more elaborate in the drawing.  The horse subject is a specialty of Phillis Fullerton.  The drawing is detailed with an expressive face on the horse.
