Presented today is this gorgeous Jemez Pueblo Story Teller, by Mary
Elizabeth Toya (1934-1990), who was instrumental in bringing the Storyteller
motif to Jemez Pueblo. Mary Elizabeth was famous for making some of the largest
Storytellers ever made, sometimes holding over a hundred babies! In addition to
teaching her 2 daughters the art, she has also taught dozens of potters who are
working today. This spectacular piece 5 inches tall, and is a Jemez
interpretation of a Tesuque Rain God. It dates from the 1960's and represents a
very rare depiction of the Tesuque style Rain God. The clay she used always came
from a traditional clay bed within the Jemez Pueblo, and she fired her work
outdoors, not in a commercial kiln. Buy with complete confidence, for as
you all know, if the buyer is unsatisfied for ANY reason, i will immediately
return the full purchase price, along with return shipping. Storytellers have
always been fantastically collectible, but this one is especially so. Many
thanks for your kind consideration, and congratulations in advance to the lucky
buyer. As always, Best Regards, Rich
