Helios-40 85 mm f/1.5 (russo: "Гелиос")
È un obiettivo veloce con lunghezza focale fissa per fotocamere da 35 mm con attacco a vite M39.
Può essere adattato a tutte le fotocamere mirrorless utilizzando l'adattatore per fotocamera M39-42 provvisto.
Può essere utilizzato anche su Dslr ma non raggiunge la messa a fuoco ad infinito.
Questo obiettivo ha un design ottico basato sul Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar. L'Helios-40 85mm f/1.5 ha un design ottico Planar (modifica con elementi ispessiti).
Nel complesso dei suoi dati tecnici, questo obiettivo si adatta meglio ai ritratti e alla fotografia artistica con un DOF basso.
La caratteristica principale di questo obiettivo è una speciale plasticità dell'immagine (dovuta alla flessione della curva MTF), un volume sorprendente e un bel bokeh caratteristico alle aperture F1.5-2. A diaframmi oltre F2.8 diventa più nitido e mantiene un bokeh particolare poiché ha 10 lame. L'utilizzo migliore è a tutta apertura, ma necessita un paraluce altrimenti perderà contrasto e la messa a fuoco sarà più difficile.
Sono caratteristici gli sfondi multicolore alle aperture F1,5-2 con un caratteristico effetto swirly radiale. Questi cerchi tendono ad avere una forma a "limone". A questi valori di apertura si ottiene anche una notevole vignettatura, ma non è un problema, fornisce volume aggiuntivo all'immagine (noto anche come "effetto tunnel").
È un obiettivo molto grande e pesante e la messa a fuoco è nella parte posteriore dell'obiettivo e non nella parte anteriore. Questo obiettivo non ha passaggi dal diaframma aperto a quello chiuso rendendolo migliore per i video e compensa anche la messa a fuoco, essendo un obiettivo molto luminoso e come tale può diventare problematica.
Dal 1957 al 1965 questo obiettivo veniva prodotto con attacco statico per treppiede, come quello che comprerete.
In altre parole: questo obiettivo è un pezzo di acciaio molto speciale che stimola la creatività. ha uno stile molto distintivo per questa lunghezza focale. Se ti occupi di ritratti, questo è l'obiettivo da avere per un momento particolare. Richiede un po' di pratica ma restituisce di più e in un modo unico.
Questo obiettivo ha una piccola sfera di cristallo all'interno della lente, non è un problema ed è tipico di quella produzione.Le lame potrebbero mostrare un po' di olio, ma si muovono in modo molto fluido, oltre a mettere a fuoco. Come ho detto non ci sono segni di spunta sulla membrana e scorre come nuova. Nessun fungo o danno sulle lenti, potrebbe esserci qualche piccola quantità di polvere all'interno che è normale per lenti di quasi 70 anni. Inutile dire che questo obiettivo è costruito come un carro armato.
L'obiettivo viene fornito con tappi anteriore e posteriore, un piccolo anello adattatore da M39 a M42, un'originale e comoda borsa in pelle con 3 lenti colorate.

It is a fast lens with a fixed focal length for 35mm cameras
with M39 screw mount.
It can be adapted to all mirrorless cameras using a M39-42 adapter to camera. It can be also used on Dslr but it would not reach ifinity. This lens has an optical design based on Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar. The Helios-40 85mm f/1.5 by its optical design is Planar

In aggregate of its technical data this lens suits better portrait work and art
photography with a low DOF.
The main feature of this lens is a special image plasticity (due to MTF curve
dip), amazing volume and a nice distinctive bokeh at apertures F1.5-2. At
aperture from F2.8 becomes sharper and keeps a special bokeh since it has 10 baldes. The best use is at full aperture, yet the lenses needs to be protected from the sun otherwise it will loose contrast and focus will be more difficult. Multicolored background can be achieved at apertures F1.5-2 with a distinctive
radial swirly effect. These circles trend to have a
"lemon" shape. At this aperture values you also get a noticeable
vignetting but this cant be considered as a problem cause it provides
additional volume to the image (a.k.a. "tunnel effect").
It is a very big and heavy lens and focusing is in the back of the lens not in the front.
This lens has not steps from open to close diaphagrhm making it better for video but also compesate to focus and regulate the esposition, since it is a very fast lens.
From 1957 to 1965 this lens was
being manufactured with a static tripod mount, like the one you are going to buy.
In other words: this lens is a very special piece of metal that can bust your creativity in very special manner. It is fairly distintive the style you can achieve and there is no lens of this leght that can compare to it. If you are in portraits, this is the lens to have for a dedicated moment. It needs some practice but it gives back more and in a unique way.
This lens has a small cristall ball in the lens insiede, it is not a problem and it is typical of that production.
Blades might show some oli but the move very smootly as well as focusing. As I said, there are not ticks on the diaphgraghm and it rolls as new. No fungus ot damages on the lenses, it might be some small amount of dust inside which is normal for an olmost 70 years old lenses. Needless to say, this lens is built like a tank.
The lens comes with fronnt and back caps, a small M39 to M42 adapter ring, an original and cosy leather bag with 3 coloured lenses.
