I have owned this vehicle for over 8 years and I have loved taking this vehicle around the country to many shows. Wherever it goes it always turns heads!
Extremely rare low mileage (60,000 miles) and understood to be only one of only two 2.0 DLs left in the UK! So rare for someone to purchase a diesel and not do many miles! I have known some Montegos with this engine to do 300,000 miles so long as serviced regularly and the coolant looked after.
Fitted with the earlier single stage injection variant of the Perkins Prima unit.
Believed to be a former Rover Employees car for most of its years in the West Midlands area who kept it into their retirement until they sadly passed away. Always garaged. Great condition to bodywork and underneath.
Since acquiring this car, I’ve taken steps to tidy up the doors and arches, I’ve replaced the starter solenoid and lift pump.
Regularly serviced, and coolant changed to Evans Waterless Coolant. Premium diesel always used. New shock absorbers all round and Michelin tyres.
A lovely car to drive with plenty of power, smooth clutch and Honda gearbox and puts many modern cars to shame!
With high gearing and lovely comfortable Rover seats makes for a very relaxed long distance cruiser!
55 mpg can be achieved with minimal effort!
This car was unusually fitted with a rear boot spoiler and body colour door handles and given that it is painted in the stunning flame red with storm grey skirt I thought I’d modify it with lattice alloy wheels and body coloured wing mirrors to make it look like a “faux GTI”.
Direct Injections from this era can be a little smoky and this one gives a quick puff of black smoke on start up but then clears.
Very relectant sale, but with a young family I’m just not getting the time to now give this car the enjoyment it deserves and I need to slim down the number of classics!
