Royal Doulton Decorative Cabinet Plate
Circa 1914 - specific backstamp on plate was known to be used from 1901-1922
The central cameo depicts a cluster of White, Yellow and Pink Chrysanthemums and is surrounded by superb gilding [Gilding by Robert Allen]. Charles Hart's skill and proficiency shows that at this period, Royal Doulton's artists were an equal to Royal Worcester artists of the similar era, with the gilding work by either Robert Allen or Herbert Betteley on these pieces - second to none.
With scalloped edges and gold rim on bottom.

About Charles Hart
Charles Hart Snr worked for Pinder Bourne then Royal Doulton from 1880 to 1927. He was well known as a painter of flowers as well as fish and game but he also painted castles, romantic lakes and inns.
