The United States 5th Special Forces Group (5th SFG), also known as the Green Berets, and Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) played a significant role during the Vietnam War. Within MACV-SOG, there were specialized units known as Reconnaissance Teams (RTs).

RT PENNSYLVANIA CCC refers to a specific Reconnaissance Team (RT) within Command and Control Central (CCC). CCC was one of the MACV-SOG's operational components, and it operated in Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam, conducting unconventional warfare, reconnaissance, and other special operations.

Reconnaissance Teams were small, highly trained units that conducted covert missions deep behind enemy lines, gathering intelligence, conducting sabotage, and executing other special operations. These teams often worked in challenging and dangerous environments.
