This is a neat lot of two gas station promo glasses, given away by Mobil during the 1980's with the purchase of at least 8 gallons of Super unleased Mobil gas.
The glasses, made by Libbey, came in array of styles featuring a variety of teams; these particular glasses being offered are in the much less common frosted lowball style with the Buffalo Bills logo in ceramic enamel.
Both glasses in this lot measure approx 4" tall and 3.25" in diameter; they have not been used/were tucked away upon receipt over thirty years ago, and they are sure to please!
History factoid: In 1988, after Mobil had already given millions of glasses away, you may recall a bit of a to-do, after a chemistry class at Bentley College in Massachusetts tested a Mobil glass w/a Patriots logo and discovered lead in the decoration on the outside of the glass - - which were, as noted previously, given away for the purchase of unleaded gas! In order for the glasses to be health concern, it was declared that you would have to submerge them in acid and drink the acid; the glasses have been deemed safe for use but are not recommended for toddlers and/or for anyone who might repeatedly lick the outside of the glass!
