Very good condition, with no cracks or chips. Some slight marks, wear and discolouration to the box. 


A charming decorative wall plate from the 'Sailing Ships' series Made by Coalport England. Each Plate depicts a different sailing scene, along with a description of the scene on the back.  


Basil Lubbock, in his book 'The Colonial Clippers' considered the barque 'Port Jackson' to be one of the most beautiful iron ships ever built. Designed by Alexander Duthie, it was built by Alexander Hall & Co. Ltd, Aberdeen in 1882. On April 28th 1917 'Port Jackson' was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine 180 miles west by north of Fasnet; Captain and 13 crew were killed.
