The Lincoln, NE psych-folk and rock duo of Denny Zager and Richard Evans scored big in 1969 with their only hit single, the apocalyptic acid folk of "In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)". A quick moving amalgam of mariachi horns, strings, and beautifully articulated (if a tad overblown) orchestration, the track measures the entire run of man's reign from 2525 to 10,000 A.D. in three minutes and 20 seconds. A beautifully constructed mess of psychedelic folk and soundtrack anthem, it soared on the charts and left quite an impression on masses of hippies still trying to figure out their place in the Age of Aquarius.
