Manufacturer info:
These routine tissue cassettes are designed to keep specimens safely submerged in liquid and are resistant to the chemical action of solvents used in histology labs.

High-density polymer
Flow-through slots
They are molded from a special high-density acetal polymer and feature efficient flow-through slots to maximize fluid exchange and ensure proper drainage. The one-piece snap-latch and hinge-lock design prevents early separation of the base and lid, and allows for one-handed operation. The lids are attached in an open position for easy filling, but can be opened or closed as often as necessary and will always relock securely. The anterior writing areas of the cassette is at 35° angles. Cassettes are specifically designed for the Leica® IP C Cassette Printer and are taped for easy loading.
Packaging: Packaged in taped stacks of 40; 25 stacks per case.
Testing Population
The Leica Biosystems tissue cassettes do not target a specific patient group. The Leica Biosystems tissue cassettes are intended for use with any human tissue or cellular specimen requiring histopathologic or cytologic evaluation of biopsy or resection tissue for the assessment of a suspected pathology or disease.
Intended User
The Leica Biosystems tissue cassettes are intended for use by qualified laboratory personnel or designee.
In Vitro Diagnostic
The Leica Biosystems Frostbite is intended for in vitro diagnostics use only.
Test Principle
Tissue samples that are required for diagnosis are placed in cassettes for the purpose of fixation, processing and embedding of tissue. The cassette provides identification, security and support during the production of routine microtomy sections, Once the embedding stage is reached, the cassette lid is snapped off and the bottom of the cassette forms a base for the paraffin block. The cassette lid can be opened and closed as often as necessary without danger of losing the specimen.
Analytical Performance
The Leica Biosystems Cassettes are not used to detect a specific analyte or marker. These medical devices are intended to securely house tissue specimens through the histology workflow required to prepare tissue specimens for microtomy. In addition, tissue cassettes also are used as a substratum or base to secure paraffin embedded tissue blocks for microtomy. Analytical parameters such as analytical sensitivity, analytical specificity, trueness (bias), precision (repeatability and reproducibility), accuracy (resulting from trueness and precision), limits of detection and quantitation, measuring range, linearity, cut-off, including determination of appropriate criteria for specimen collection and handling and control of known relevant endogenous and exogenous interference, cross-reactions do not apply to the performance of this system.
Clinical Performance
The Leica Biosystems Cassettes are not intended for use as a means of detecting a specific disease or pathological process or state. Clinical performance indices such as diagnostic sensitivity, diagnostic specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, likelihood ratio as well as expected values in normal and affected populations do not apply to the use of the Leica Biosystems Cassettes in a clinical setting.
Disposal
Plastic lids provided with the cassette are single use only and should be discarded after use. Cassette base become an integral part of paraffin block during an embedding step. Cassettes base should not be resused.
For use with emedding, biopsy, microtomy, microscopy, microtome, histology, pathology, medical, hospital, laboratory research, etc
