Whether it is ribbon that has been made ridged using actual wax or some other transparent sizing to firm up the ribbons I just don't know.  If you do, please let me know .  Bought it for myself, but honestly can't find a place for it now.  Got it on a thrift store expedition fairly recently - want it to have a good home and I do need to make a living.  

The prices for works of this type that I've seen seem awfully high.. I'm asking as a BIN price lower than most I found and I always do "best offer".
