Vintage ‘RWB’ Butcher’s Shop Ham Boiler Meat Press For Formed Ham Etc - (#2)

A vintage, large, meat press from a retired butcher’s collection of equipment. I’m not sure of the age, but it is probably from the 1960s or 1970s. It is ideal for preparing pressed tongue, pork 'head-cheese'/brawn, formed ham, etc.

You will see that the top part that presses down is convex. I have a similar press for sale that has a flat press (see my other items).

This is a bit of used commercial equipment, so has knocks and dings etc (it is not John-Lewis—New-Pristine, but it is a bit of vintage commercial equipment).

If you are interested in British ‘Charcuterie’, this should be an interesting item.

It is made from some form of aluminum alloy (not sure quite what). It will definitely benefit from a good clean (I can’t tell you what will be required to clean the currently rough surfaces, but don’t use steel wool). One can never know exactly how an old butcher cleaned such equipment - but DON’T put it in a dishwasher. I assume that butchers would have lined these before use.

There are no instructions, so I recommend watching YouTube to learn more about this sort of equipment, and especially the 'Scott Rea Project' on YouTube.
