1985 Press Photo Young at Heart Trumpeter Elmo Mendoza plays in "River Queen"

This is an original press photo. As a school teacher in St. Bernard Parish in the 1940s, Marie Louise Preble wrote plays for her young students. Now she writes them for the young at heart. Preble began the senior citizens' drama and singing group that became the Young At Heart Entertainers when she retired from the St. Bernard Parish school system in 1976. Elmo Mendoza plays a trumpet solo during dress rehearsal for "River Queen" at the Arabi Elementary School Auditorium Photo measures 10 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 04-04-1985.
