J.J. Scheuchzer (1672-1733) was a Swiss scholar and physician. He was convinced that the biblical flood happened and that evidence of it could be seen in the Swiss mountains. He believed that he had the bones of a man who perished during the flood and used them for the colophon of his gigantic work.

Condition of the leaf: As shown, in good condition on hand-made paper. Minor evidence of ageing, browning, edge flaws,etc. However, the image area is clean.  I will mention flaws that cannot be seen on the photographs. 

Size of the leaf: ca. 15.75"x 9.75".

Pictured: The side of the leaf with the engraving and one of the title  pages with the date of 1733. The backside of the engraving is blanc.
