Dating from the early years of the 20th century, this lovely sewing/manicure case measures 5.5 inches by 3.5 inches by 0.5 inches.

Covered in green silk velvet, the case is hinged with a pretty brass open and close mechanism.

Inside, the case is fitted with 6 bovine bone mounted implements including a ribbon threader, button hook, needle, awl, nail file and thread waxer.

The inside of the lid is lined with a paler green silk surmounted with a green velvet crown which potentially could be used as a pin retainer but is probably there just for decoration. King Edward VII came to the throne in 1901 following the death of his mother, Queen Victoria and I think its possible that the case dates from this time, with the crown reflecting the excitement of a new monarch.
