Antique French Gothic Carved Griffin Gargoyle & Iron Lantern Wall Sconce.

A superb handcarved wooden Gothic Revival twin light wall sconce with hand forged iron lanterns. This handcrafted and excellent condition wall sconce comes with two well carved wood  mythological winged griffin/gargoyle sculptures holding aloft blackened metal lanterns.

The combination of the warm patina of the wood and the and yellow cathedral type glass in the hand-forged lanterns makes it quite unique unlike anything you ever saw. Switched on, the warm light that the cathedral glass lanterns radiate, creates an ambiance to your interior design atmosphere that is not of this time.

Circa 1910 ~ 1920.

In overall very good conditon with no damage or repairs,though is showing some age related wear minor surface wear, scratches etc...All nothing major,but noted.

The sconce has its original working electrical wiring and fittings for large bayonet-style light bulbs. It is recommended to have them rewired to meet modern safety standards.

A charming addition for any period or contemporary setting.

Measures overall 16" /41cms tall by 13.5" / 34cms across with a depth from when attached to wall of 8" / 20cms.

Will display superbly in any period,contemporary setting.
