Ila Scholla was a well known artist who worked in many mediums in Bangkok, Thailand.  She had a prolific studio for many years before moving to America.

About the artist: Ila Jean Scholla died in Savannah on November 28, 2012. Mrs. Scholla had been a Savannah resident since 1999, when she returned to the U.S. after living some 40 years in Thailand. Scholla  attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She went on to an interior design career in California. From there she went to design interiors for the then new Rama Hotel in Bangkok in l960. She remained in Thailand for most of her adult life. She was owner of The Golden Bo Tree handcraft business in Thailand. Her company produced commercial and one-of-a-kind objects d'arte from papier mache as well as jewelery crafted from antique pottery shards, semi-precious stones and silver. Her work has been exhibited at several international group exhibitions in Bangkok and distributed world-wide.
