This is a rare WWI German sword manufactured by Carl Eickhorn in Solingen, Germany. The sword features a unique cartouche with two squirrels back to back, making it a valuable addition to any collection of militaria. The sword is an original piece from the period of WWI (1914-18) and is an excellent find for collectors of historical artifacts. It is a great investment for those interested in owning a piece of history. The back to back squirrels gives make  dates 1908 to 1920. This sword has etched blade. Crossed cannons. I was just asked about a crack in handle. I just noticed a chip in handle in the section closest to blade. It is rectangular 1/4 inch wide x almost 3/8 long and less than 1/16 deep. It is on one side only. Sorry , never noticed because the grip material is the same color throughout.
