LADY DEATH ORIGINAL COLOR ART THE CRUCIBLE #5 PG. 3 STEVEN HUGHES JACK GRAY

This remarkable piece of Lady Death original hand colored art by Jack Gray over Steven Hughes's art served as an integral part of the production process for the actual Lady Death comic book. Every mark made by the artist's marker and every carefully chosen color on this page were painstakingly crafted to translate the narrative from script to visual reality. It was the cornerstone upon which the comic's vibrant world was built, with each panel and character brought to life through the meticulous attention to detail captured with color markers.

This color page was colored traditionally by hand with alcohol markers and then scanned into the computer and completed in Photoshop. This was back in the day when the look and feel of the hand coloring was an important look for CHAOS comics. The hand colored art was then taken to the next step and merged with digital technology to create a distinct look that CHAOS comics was known for.

Holding this piece is like holding a direct link to the creative genesis of the Lady Death comic, a tangible one of a kind artifact that reminds us of the skilled hands and artistic ingenuity that transformed words into a visual masterpiece.
