Description

This is a gorgeous and unusual gilt and cobalt blue Satsuma lamp base, decorated with cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, a house by a river, and an autumn temple scene on an earthenware body. I believe it's Meiji period. It's unmarked but probably Kinkozan-inspired.

Unlike many drilled vases, this appears to have been specifically made to be a lamp. It could easily be turned back into a lamp with a lamp hardware kit (not included), or could stand alone as a beautiful piece on its own.
