Up for sale is this antique perhaps 19th C French Faience tin-glazed pottery plate with a beautifully painted family crest or coat of arms in center and decorative border design.

The plate displays beautifully. French faience pottery emulates Chinese porcelain by the use of opaque white glazes. The decoration fuses and blends with the top glaze, so looks as if it has a white ground like porcelain. Ceramic artists are able to achieve a very fine variety of highly colored and beautiful designs with this method.

This piece is in very good overall condition with some typical and minor edge glaze losses and a firing line that is original to its production - it is not a crack.

Measures about 9.75” inches in diameter or 24.8 cm.
