Here is a fantastic loco.

It represents a German Railway, DB class BR042 formerly BR41, after computer numbers were applied in 1968, the coal burners became “041” while the oil burners (this model) became “042”. It is in the attractive Black and Red livery, looking as the prototype did around 1975.

It is a perfect loco for main lines use being completely at home on fast freight trains or as a passenger train engine.

Being Trix, it is heavy, robust and reliable with a metal chassis and well detailed plastic body. It is also fitted with traction tyres and has very good hauling capacity. It is fitted with a flywheel equipped can motor in the boiler, driving the actual locomotive. It is very smooth running indeed with very little “cogging” even at slow speeds.

It is fitted with a Trix (mfx?) sound decoder with a lovely sound to it. It also has digitally controlled lights front and rear. The digital address is as per the loco class and running number, ie: 4296.

It is supplied with the Fleischmann close coupling which is easily exchanged if you wish, due to being fitted with the NEM coupler boxes.

I have described it as “used” as it is almost perfectly immaculate and in “very good” condition. However, the top of the handrail at the front of the tender right hand side, is bent at an almost 90 degree angle, I have not attempted to bend it back in case it breaks.

I have run it to a small degree, maybe as much as three hours of operation in total. That is barely “run in”!

Also, it is not modified in any other way, in other words, it is almost as new.

Only selling due to a change in focus.
