In order to tow the heavy 152-305mm field artillery and the heavy tanks that began to equip the Soviet Red Army in the 1930s, there was an urgent need to develop a heavy-duty tractor using a tank engine. This tractor was developed by the Kharkiv plant in 1935. In 1937, the prototype began a test run to and from Moscow and was publicly displayed in front of the Kremlin. The vehicle left a deep impression on people and was eventually approved for production. The tractor showed great capabilities. It could tow the largest artillery of the Red Army at the time and all tanks, including the T-35 heavy tank. At the end of 1939, this Production of tractors known as "Voroshilovets" begins. A total of 1,123 units were produced. During the war, the vehicle effectively performed various front-line towing and transportation tasks.
