this is a very good pair of zeiss binoculars, these are the image stabilised model, ideal for looking at the moon. unfortunately the prisms / lenses have some marks on them causing the vision to be duller than it should be. i did send these to zeiss hoping they would clean them as i was under the impression they had a lifetime guarantee, but they sent me a quote of around £1,500 which basically replaced everything, new lenses, prisms, image stabilser, re sealing, new case etc etc, so they would come back as good as new. i just didnt fancy spending that amount on a pair i hardly use.
anyone who repairs binoculars might be able to strip these down and clean everything themselves as they look pretty easy to get into, the top and bottom rubber covers come off easily revealing screws to get inside them.
so you could have a go yourself, or if you want them good as new zeiss will do them. on the list they said everything would be replaced, even making the focusing smoother which feels ok as it is, and the image stabiliser they said they would replace even tho there is nothing wrong with that, it all works as it should.
these are in excess of £6,000 to buy, so you could get these sorted by zeiss and have a pair that costs about half the new price.
they do have zeiss neckstrap not shown in the photo, zeiss sent them back with a new strap as they thought they had lost the original one, so ill include both straps. viewing and testing very welcome. they have no double vision, but once cleaned im sure the vision will be very bright and clear, they are still useable as they are. and i found out that it was a common fault for the prisms to get marked inside, thats why i was hoping zeiss would clean them, but they wouldnt just clean them they wanted to replace just about everything. if there is no interest i might end up sending them to zeiss. part ex welcome for binoculars or other items of a similar value to the start price. these are probably one of the best pairs of binoculars you are likely to find.
they weigh about 1.7kg so overseas shipping will be expensive, global shipping best option.
