This is an original press photo. New-Style Salvation Army Uniform for men and woman: A new-style uniform for salvationists was shown for the first time today. For officers - the Movement's full-time ministers - the new style is available for summer month only. For laypeople - the soldiers, bandsmen and songsters- the new uniform may be worn all the year round. But Traditionalists who wish to continue wearing the "stand-up" collar may still do so. The new uniform and skirt, with insignia on lapels and epaulets, and a white blouse with a small Salvation Army enamel brooch at neck, black hose, black shoes, with bonnet or felt hat. The new style for the men - Navy-blie jacket-style uniform and trousers. with insignia on Lapels and epaulets - white shirt with dark navy-blue tie and regulation cap (unchance) All Salvationists buy their own uniforms, costing between £15 and £52. This is the first major style change since 1878.
