Mid Century Portmeirion China England Corsets Series Ware Tankard Beer Mug Khiva


A scarce 1960s era 5.25" tall and 4" dia at base ceramic tankard or beer mug designed by Susan William-Ellis for Portmeirion China and made in England.  The pattern is Corsets, Ellis took inspiration from the popular mid century design trend in the 1960s of re-purposing antique engravings made popular by Piero Fornasetti.  Her Corsets series was decorated in many different Victorian corsets from period advertising and combined with her descriptive text, this particular tankard depicts a Khiva Corselet.

Fresh from a fine old Denver estate, and offered with No Reserve.

Condition is excellent overall showing light and minimal use with no chips, cracks, repairs, or other damage.
