ABOUT THIS COVER

The feature stamp on this hand-drawn and hand painted . . . and totally unique . . . Event Cover by the bold and daring, Jack Follows, celebrates the ageless Adventures of Robin Hood legend. (Actually, no one knows with 100-degree certainty whether or not Robin Hood was a real-life person or only a manufactured legend, but one thing is sure --- since Robin Hood made his silent-screen debut in 1922, followed by Errol Flynn's portrayal of him in the break-out 1938 movie, Robin Hood has always been one of the most popular of all legendary heroes, whose escapades have  morphed into several motion pictures, television programs, games, and books. It was a series that made household names out of characters such as (1) Friar Tuck, the priest who was endeared by the thieves (2) Little John, ironically, the biggest of all the "Merry Men" (3) Maid Marian, Robin Hood's love interest (4) Alan-a-Dale, whose singing kept the Merry Men, happy (5) the evil Sheriff of Nottingham (6) and so-on, and so-forth.

About the feature stamp : for this one, Mr. Follows teamed up with Great Britiains 1994 Noggin and the Dragon stamp, Scott # 1529, from that year's set of 10 stamps which featured famous British story-book characters using the mail. For instance on this stamp, the character, Noggin, is reading a letter while a dragon looks on. (Other stamps in this series feature Little Red Riding Hood mailing a letter, Peter Rabbit mailing a letter, and Alice in Wonderland writing the letter.)

About the inspiration for the hand painted cachet : Robin Hood . . . as the legends explains him, he lived in Nottingham, England's Sherwood Forest with his Band of Merry Men, thieves who stole from the rich and donated their thefts to the poor peasants in the town of Nottingham, which was under the rule of a tyrannical king.

About the hand-drawn,  hand painted cachet : one look at this cachet, and it becomes crystal-clear why I used the expression, "bold and daring" to describe Mr. Follows in my opening sentence. In his own inimitable art style, Mr. Follows drops in on Friar Tuck, the "Merry Men's" priest, as he hangs out in Sherwood Forest. Now, since Friar Tuck is a priest, he is not supposed to indulge in sex with anyone. But, Father Tuck has found a way to get around that restriction, because no one said anything about not having "an affair" with a blow-up doll.

And OMGod ". . . I can't believe it! Mr. Follows actually caught the horny Friar Tuck right in the act of making a blow-up doll. I mean, check out the embarrassed look on poor ol' Friar Tuck's face, as he tries to justify his actions with the excuse that "some of us have to make our own arrangements!!!"

About the special cancel : and check out that special close to 2-inch wide pictorial cancel, featuring Robin Hood shooting his bow-and-arrow, on the far-right side . . .  and from Nottingham, England, no less.

About the Scarcity Factor : please note that this is the only such cover that Mr. Follows made. So, rest assured that if you should successfully bid on it, then you . . . and you, alone . . . will be its sole owner.

All in alla cover that is dedicated to all Robin Hood fans . . . or simply to anyone who likes to have eye-popping covers in their collection.
