1953 Franklin Half Dollar

PCGS: "Bugs Bunny FS-401"

Franklin Variety Index: “FVI Bugs Bunny A-1b”

PCGS / CAC MS65FBL

A beautifully preserved choice original 65FBL which, in and of itself, is a scarcity. This stage of the variety, attributed as FVI Bugs Bunny A-1b in the Franklin variety Index, shows a strong spike on Franklin's lip, and a heavy horizontal line under the nose. In the the Cherrypicker's Guide, this is a "Bugs Bunny FS-401." A rare issue in this grade, and with CAC verification.

The Franklin Variety Index, a free variety guide to Franklin half dollars, is the result of a 10-year research initiative by DM Rare Coins. The guide is being released in stages, beginning in December of 2020. Coins attributed to the FVI will be accompanied by a certificate of attribution.

CAC, or Certified Acceptance Corporation, green-stickers only coins that are solid or high-end for their assigned PCGS/NGC grades. CAC will gold-sticker PCGS/NGC coins they believe to be under-graded outright. The extra verification provided by CAC confirms that you aren't buying low-end material; and our specialization in high-end coins means that you will continue to see CAC stickers appearing in DM RARE COINS’ inventory!
