Tamiya ventured into the modeling business in 1948, with a scale wooden ship model kit. Since then, Tamiya has been striving to offer merchandise that can truly be called 'First in Quality Around the World.' Now Tamiya is offering more than 300 different products, both in the fields of precision static models and high performance radio control vehicles. These products are not only sold in Japan but also exported in vast quantities to the United States, Europe, South East Asia, and to many other parts of the world. The standard of excellence achieved by Tamiya is regarded as among the very finest in the world of model hobbies. U.S. military planners experimented with half-track designs from the late 1920s and employed several vehicles during WWII. Among them was the M21 mortar carrier, which was officially adopted in June 1943. It featured a frame on the fighting compartment floor for the mortar that allowed sixty degrees of left and right traverse. The vehicle was also equipped with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun, bazooka, mines, and a wide range of other weapons. This model assembly kit recreates the M21 in detail and includes three figures for great diorama ideas. Features a realistic depiction of the complex front-wheel drive chassis. Plenty of accessories are included: 81mm mortar, bazooka, sheets and much more.
