This
is a wonderful specimen of an extremely rare pen, manufactured for two quarters.
ninety years ago - in the most sought-after color. The pen is in very good condition, except as
noted in the details. It measures 5.31”
capped x .60” cap dia / .53 barrel dia. It’s
fitted with a (F)ine, 14kt gold PARKER/USA, Vacumatic nib with about 90%
original 2-tone coloring. The pen shows very
light wear and there are no chips, scratches, gouges, or engraving. The embossing is complete and sharp. I’ve had the pen about 25 years and never filled
it; it has been dipped and lovingly card for.
As a Vac collector you know this is one of the hardest pens to find:
produced part of one year, oversized, 2nd generation, raised PARKER
VACUMATIC band and in burgundy.
Pen Details
·
Cap:
no lip crack; no chips or scratches; excellent thread engagement; touch of
brassing on the top of the clip arrow and touch at the top of the clip bend
(where the shirt pocket wears); no brassing on rings
·
Nib/Feed
& Section: Parker/USA, “44” nib,
smooth, wet, F nib; ~ 90% original 2-tone. And herein lies a small
disappointment: there is about a crack at the bottom of the nib - which is
shown in the accompanying photos. As I
said earlier, I’ve had the pen >25 years and never, until today, know of the
crack. The pen can be used with the nib
as is or the new owner may choose to have the crack repaired.
·
Barrel/Blind
Cap: almost no wear; “27” date, complete imprint. No engraving.
Both jewels burgundy pearl.
·
Filler:
free and smooth, needs diaphragm (if you’re going to use the pen). The section has been opened.
Please look closely at the
photographs as they supplement the written description. If you have any
questions. Lastly, if after receiving the pen, you think my descriptions
are inflated/incorrect, I’ll gladly take the pen back.
