A 100-drachma coin of a copper, aluminium and nickel alloy was added to the series, featuring the head of Alexander the Great (inspired from a tetradrachm of Lysimachos, king of Thrace, who minted it in the early 3rd century B.C.) on one side and the Star of Vergina with the denomination on the other.  

Alexander III of Macedon (20/21 July 356 – 10/11 June 323 BC), commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a King of the Ancient Greek Kingdom. Born in Pella in 356 BC, Alexander succeeded his father, Phillip II, to the throne at the age of twenty. He spent most of his ruling years on an unprecedented military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa, until by the age of thirty he had created one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from Greece to Egypt and into northwest ancient India. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of history's most successful military commanders.

His legacy, often ranks him among the world's top personalities of all time having the greatest influence, along with his teacher Aristotle
