This is a genuine Carlton Ware drayman, I believe, made for Guinness in the 1950s. However there are flaws... no text on the base, no Carlton Ware backstamp, the handkerchief at the back corner is unpainted. So I think this is a factory second, or at least unfinished, as both backstage and handkerchief would be red, so for whatever reason, this piecec didn't get as far as the red paintpot.

The numerous fakes are really badly painted (you can see a couple in the 'completed' or 'sold' search and they go for under 25.00 usually. Perfect examples can sell for £150-250 on a good day. So I have gone somewhere in the middle... affordable but imperfect (sounds like me!).

I am selling a number of vintage Guinness advertising items this week, and I will combine postage. Please check out what else I have for sale.
