Description

It is no exaggeration to say that all jazz guitar players must have passed through the "Ichinago" archtop standard model, which was first manufactured in 1949. It has been a long seller for over 50 years and has been used by countless jazz guitarists, including Joe Pass. This is a one-mic P-90 made in 1953.

16" laminated maple body / mahogany neck / hakaranda fingerboard with double parallelogram inlays / hakaranda bridge / bail tailpiece / original P-90. Volume and tone knobs, pots, capacitor, and pickguard have been replaced. This vintage has been set up including refretting/nut replacement and is in good playing condition.

The P-90 model is the original style for the ES-175. The rich, raw sound of an acoustic instrument and the honest, intimate tone from the amp can be said to be unique to 50's Gibsons. The tone is cohesive without being too broad and individualistic. It is one of the ideal 50's tones with just the right amount of luster. The fact that the parts have been replaced is more than compensated for by the fact that this is a good quality guitar.

Made in 1953, 175

Hakaranda fingerboard, original P-90.

The electrical system and neck are in good condition, and the string height has been set low, so it can be used for a long time.

The frets are about 80% full, and we have confirmed that there is plenty of room in the truss rod.

The neck is almost straight and in very good condition. There are no problems with the electrical system.

Replacement parts are pegs (Gotoh), nut, frets, 2 pots, condenser, jack, 2 knobs, bridge, and strap pins.

The strap pin and jack plate have been added, and the original pickguard shows small hole repairs.

There are some age-related weather checks and minor scratches, but there are no wood repairs and it is in good condition for its age.

The well-established Early 50s P-90s sound solid without fading, and each string is very well balanced and easy to plug in and use.

This is a reasonably priced vintage ES-175 that will serve you well in the field.

It comes with a recent Gibson hard case.
