Set of two lovely transferware scalloped dinner plates from the series Rural Scenes designed by Edward Duncan for Spode. The center of the plate shows a Tudor style farmhouse with cows outside in the yard. The border of the plate has hops and leaves encircling it. These are red polychrome rather than the typical sepia and so are quite rare.  They measure 10 1/2".  They are both backstamped Spode Copeland England and incised with the date May 1923.
