This is a Stereo Card of the south gardens and Festival Hall showing the Fountain of Energy in the Background at the Panama Pacific International Exposition of 1915 in San Francisco, California. It is from the RARE Keystone 100 card “Panama Pacific International Exposition” set (the cards are numbered 1-100 on the back) from 1915 and shows great details. This is a very rare and desirable set whose views are rarely seen for sale on eBay or other sites. This view was only included in the 100 card set and was not included in the 24 or 36 card sets, so it is seen far less often. This card is titled “South Gardens--Festival Hall and "Fountain of Energy" in the Background, Panama-Pacific Int. Exp., San Francisco, Calif.” with a position number of 9 and a Keystone negative number of 17725. This card is in near mint to mint condition and measures 3 ½” by 7”. The back of the card is blank. The Panama–Pacific International Exposition (PPIE or P.P.I.E.) was a world's fair held in San Francisco, in the United States, between February 20 and December 4 in 1915. Its purpose was to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, but it was widely seen in the city as an opportunity to showcase its recovery from the 1906 earthquake. The fair was constructed on a 635 acre site in San Francisco, along the northern shore now known as the Marina District. 24 nations participated in the exposition that was attended by nearly 19 million visitors. Special events included the 1915 American Grand Prize and Vanderbilt Cup auto races held February 27 and March 6 on a 3.84-mile circuit set up around the Exposition grounds and a display of the Liberty Bell. After this, the Liberty Bell returned to Pennsylvania, and has not been moved since. I will be listing more Stereoviews on a regular basis, so check back for more views. Don’t miss out!

Stereoviews or Stereo Cards have two nearly identical images mounted side by side. When looked at through a stereo viewer they give a three-dimensional image. Most popular from 1854 to 1938, they were produced in vast quantities, and many are of historical interest. They usually measure about 3 ½” by 7”.
